I am 56 years young now and have been coming to Kleine Noord 50 since I was 19 for the best roti in the Netherlands. Back then Toko Anand, now the beautiful restaurant Spices. Yesterday was another winner: roti lamb extra special. So good!
… for mains Chicken Rogan Josh and Lamb Karahi with garlic naan. The dishes live up to the restaurant's name. Very flavourfully spiced! The portions are quite big and generous with chicken or meat. The service is friendly, polite and attentive.

Spices is an Indian and Surinamese restaurant at Kleine Noord 50 in the centre of Hoorn. One menu holds Indian curries, tandoori and naan next to Surinamese roti, nasi and bami; the chicken and lamb dishes are halal and there is plenty of vegetarian choice. Dine in, take away or have it delivered in Hoorn, Zwaag, Blokker and Scharwoude.
Everything is made fresh with whole spices. Want it mild? We make it mild. Want it hot? You get it hot. Just say so.
As spicy as you like. Tell us when you order whether you want it mild, medium or hot and the kitchen adjusts it. Most dishes are mild to medium by default.
Yes. The menu has a large vegetarian Indian selection: paneer, dal, vegetable curries and more. The Indian chicken and lamb dishes are halal and carry the halal mark on our menu. Please note: the Surinamese moksi meti dishes contain pork and are not halal.

Yes, order online on our ordering site. We deliver in Hoorn, Zwaag, Blokker, Scharwoude and the surrounding area. Pickup is at Kleine Noord 50.
Kleine Noord 50 in the centre of Hoorn, a few minutes' walk from Hoorn station. Open Monday to Sunday from 16:00 to 22:00, the kitchen is open until 21:00. We are closed on Tuesdays. Paid parking is within walking distance, for example at the Noorderveemarkt.

At Spices, Kleine Noord 50, the address for Surinamese roti in Hoorn since 1972. Roti with chicken, chicken fillet, lamb, moksi or vegetarian, always with potato, long beans and egg. Eat in the restaurant, pick up, or have it delivered in Hoorn, Zwaag, Blokker and Scharwoude.
Both, on one menu. The Indian menu has curries, tandoori, biryani and naan from the clay oven; the Surinamese menu has roti, nasi, bami and tjauw min. One table can order from both.
Yes. Spices is open on Mondays from 16:00 to 22:00, the kitchen until 21:00. Tuesday is our weekly closing day.
Since 1972. Our family started in Hoorn with Surinamese and Indian dishes for takeaway and delivery, under the name Toko Anand. Later came a restaurant of its own at Kleine Noord 50: Spices. As far as the family knows the first Surinamese and the first Indian restaurant in Hoorn, and still a family business.
